Care Guide
Planting
Plant your Hybrid Dogwood in full sun to part shade in spring or fall, spacing it 15-20 feet from other large shrubs or trees since it will reach 20-25 feet tall at maturity. It prefers well-draining, slightly acidic to neutral soil and is adaptable to sand, loam, and clay, so don't stress too much about soil type. Choose a location where it has room to spread naturally into its multi-stemmed form.
After Planting
Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a strong root system, aiming for consistent moisture through your first summer. Once established, reduce watering frequency but keep the soil consistently moist during hot months - your Dogwood won't tolerate drought. Prune only to remove dead or crossing branches in late winter before growth begins, and expect the first white flowers to appear in April through June of year two; the plant is deciduous, so don't panic when it drops all its leaves in fall.
