Care Guide

Planting

Plant Seep Monkeyflower in fall or winter in a location with full sun to part shade. This plant thrives in wet to moist soil - ideally along stream margins, seeps, or in naturally wet landscapes - and actually tolerates slow drainage and standing water better than most garden plants. Space plants about 1–2 feet apart, as they spread aggressively and will fill in quickly.

After Planting

Water weekly for the first summer until established, then cut back to once a week or less during the growing season. Once established, this is an easy-care plant that needs minimal intervention; it's deciduous and will go dormant in summer heat or dry periods. The #1 mistake is underestimating how vigorously it spreads and self-seeds - plan to cut it back or pull plants periodically to prevent it from crowding out neighbors, especially in smaller spaces.
